Ladybarn Supported Living Scheme

By Latest News

At the start of 2018 we are looking forward to seeing some of our 2017 designs moving into the construction phase. One of these is our Ladybarn Supported Living Scheme for Partners Foundation in Rochdale.

Ladybarn is an exciting new venture for Partners Foundation providing 42 new apartments on their 0.5 hectare site in Milnrow, Rochdale. The scheme will provide housing for vulnerable adults aged 21 upwards, a large proportion of which have learning disabilities, amongst other challenges. The apartments themselves are designed to HAPPI 3 and Lifetime Home principles and support an independent living concept.

Developed with Rochdale Borough Council’s Adult Care team, care and support will be provided by Future Directions via their contract with Rochdale Borough Council.

The scheme was submitted in October 2017 and is due to be decided at committee in January. Smith Love Planning Consultants are dealing with this stage of the application and it is hoped that a start on site will be made in the next couple of months.

Griffin Lodge Doctors Office Concept

By Latest News

We have begun work on a new scheme for Griffin Lodge in Blackburn which is going to be used as doctors’ offices.

We have created a 3D model of the existing site and added the potential extension to the building.

This helps get potential ideas across to the client and helps them envision what will be built as well as giving them inspiration for their own ideas and plans for the scheme.

The modelling for this project was done in Vectorworks Architect, Google Sketch Up and rendered in Podium.

Updates for this project can be found on our Twitter and Instagram.

Vectorworks Training

By Latest News

IWA completed two days of Vectorworks Architect BIM training with Jonathan Reeves of JR-Architecture.

In addition to his architecture and visualisation portfolio Jonathan regularly contributes written articles to publications including Building Design and Architects Journal and has made written contributions to several books and edited a new guide to Vectorworks Architect.

The training strengthens our capacity to deliver BIM content and continues our approach to developing designs three dimensionally to assist our clients understanding of the spaces we create.

The training also allowed our in house ‘video game artist’ to review the latest visualisation tools allowing us to produce real time renders and develop our use of virtual reality technology.
